In this video, Dr. R. Rishi Gupta and colleagues treat a patient with sudden onset of decreased vision after dislocation of a Gore-Tex scleral-sutured enVista MX60 lens 14 months after placement. Inspection of the dislocated IOL revealed that the eyelet was fractured but the Gore-Tex suture on that side remained intact. The surgeons caution against the off-label scleral fixation of the MX60 and MX60E IOLs (Bausch + Lomb) with Gore-Tex suture. If used, however, they recommend taking care not to overtighten sutures and to counsel patients on the possible risks.
