In this 1-Minute Video, Drs. Jack Stringham and Jayanth Sridhar employ the no-touch anterior approach to remove a dexamethasone implant (Ozurdex). Two weeks after receiving the implant, the patient presented with complications such as corneal edema, implant migration and an irregular pupil. Drs. Stringham and Sridhar created a paracentesis and floated the implant into the center of the anterior chamber using viscoelastic. After orienting the implant perpendicularly to the wound, they injected viscoelastic to remove the implant in 1 piece. The wound was closed with 10-0 nylon suture. This method avoids the need for a trocar and reduces the risk of implant breakage.
