    Pearls for Surgical Gonioscopy

    1-Minute Video

    Glaucoma, Surgical Management

In this 1-Minute Video, Dr. David Godfrey offers pearls for surgical gonioscopy. Strong gonioscopic skills in the office translate to strong skills in the operating room, so it is necessary to become familiar with the angle before surgery. In particular, learn to tilt the scope and adjust the patient's head to achieve an optimal view. Once the patient is in position, use your non-dominant hand to place the gonioprism on the eye, taking care not to exert pressure. The anterior chamber should be filled with an appropriate viscoelastic. Look for landmarks, such as the meshwork and the location of the spur.
