In this 1-Minute Video, Drs. Avinash Honasoge and Gaurav Shah (The Retina Institute, St. Louis) demonstrate how to use a membrane scraper to remove an IOL calcification. The patient had a history of asteroid hyalosis and presented with significant symptoms of glare due to calcified material on the posterior aspect of his IOL. When YAG capsulotomy did not work, the surgeons performed vitrectomy and scraped away the calcified material using a diamond-dusted scraper.
