Removal of Submacular Bands

In this 1-Minute Video, Dr. Ahmed Tabl demonstrates removal of submacular bands. He started with a core vitrectomy, stained the residual vitreous with triamcinolone acetonide and injected perfluorocarbon to protect the macula. A retinotomy was made above the band using endodiathermy and the band was released using 23-gauge end-gripping forceps. After the procedure, vision improved from hand motion to 20/200.
