In this 1-Minute Video, Dr. Jay Sridhar demonstrates repair of a retinal detachment in a patient with sickle cell retinopathy. Examination of the 19-year-old patient revealed 20/400 visual acuity and a macula involving rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. The patient underwent surgical repair with scleral buckling and vitrectomy with placement of silicone oil for travel reasons. Visual acuity improved to 20/60  by postop week 1 and the retina remained attached at postop month 3.
