Tips for Lens Rotation in Eyes with Weak Zonules
1-Minute Video
01:22
Cataract/Anterior Segment
In this 1-Minute Video, Dr. Steven Safran uses capsule retractors to rotate a lens in a patient with weak zonules. In this case, the patient has pseudoexfoliation syndrome and a dense cataract. Since re-hydrodissection did not help, he inserts capsule retractors to secure the capsular bag. This provides counter traction, allowing him to rotate the lens without stripping the remaining zonules. He then proceeds with phacoemulsification, injects a CTR and performs a standard optic capture of a 3-piece lens.
