He recommends beginning with a thorough examination and imaging to locate the inflammation, followed by tests for infectious diseases. Some patients may require chronic immunosuppression medication, he explained. If infectious etiologies have not been ruled out, he recommends avoiding steroid injections and using oral steroids instead.
