In this 1-Minute Video, Dr. Debra Goldstein describes when and how to perform an anterior chamber (AC) tap. She recommends performing an AC tap in patients with signs of infection or malignancy. Anterior chamber paracentesis is also useful in cases of suspected infectious retinitis, especially as this technique is much easier than a vitreous tap. As always, she notes, a pathology consult is needed before specimens are obtained from suspected malignancies.
