Posttrabeculectomy Patient with a Dislocated Bag/IOL

Cataract Spotlight/AAO 2022
Cataract/Anterior Segment, Complications, IOLs and Implantation

This presentation features a patient with a dislocated single-piece intraocular lens (IOL) in the capsular bag. The patient was doing well after a trabeculectomy in terms of intraocular pressure but needed assistance with the IOL. After Dr. Cathleen McCabe describes her difficulties in gripping the lens, the audience weighs in on surgical approaches such as exchanging it for a 3-piece IOL or lasso suturing the IOL haptic to the sclera. Dr. McCabe and an expert panel also discuss a second, similar patient who had a toric lens.
