Posterior Chamber IOL in the Anterior Chamber

Cataract Spotlight/AAO 2022
Cataract/Anterior Segment, Complications, IOLs and Implantation, Wound Construction

In this presentation, Dr. Amar Agarwal describes a patient with a fixed and distorted pupil who had surgery a year earlier. The patient experienced a posterior capsular rupture, and the surgeon implanted a polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) posterior chamber intraocular lens (IOL) in the anterior chamber. Experts discuss possible solutions, such as repositioning the same IOL in the posterior chamber with intrascleral haptic fixation, and also share their thoughts on later surgical challenges in the case.
