27-Gauge Vitrectomy for Retinal Detachment
Retina Subspecialty Day 2016
Retina/Vitreous, Vitreoretinal Surgery
The introduction of the 27-gauge vitrectomy platform has provided surgeons with the opportunity to develop new techniques to surgically repair retinal detachments. The combination of high-speed cutting rates, enhanced fluidic control, and very small-gauge instruments allows for exquisite finesse and precision when performing maneuvers during vitrectomy. Different techniques are shown for repairing retinal detachments using 27-gauge vitrectomy instruments.
