    Alternatives to Keratoplasty

    Cornea Subspecialty Day 2016
    Cornea/External Disease

Dr. Sonal Tuli discusses alternative procedures to keratoplasty. To improve vision, she suggests nonkeratoplasty approaches such as rigid gas permeable, scleral, or soft contact lenses, debridement, phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK), and manual lamellar keratectomy. To provide therapeutic relief, Dr. Tuli finds that bandage contact lens, stromal puncture, amniotic membrane, Gunderson flap, and pedicle graft can be useful. Finally, to improve globe integrity, she suggests corneal gluing, multilayer amniotic membrane, and pedicle graft.
