PURPOSE: To demonstrate bimanual 23-gauge pars plana vitrectomy using a self-retaining chandelier light in managing complicated diabetic tractional retinal detachment. METHODS: We used several video clips to illustrate the technique of 23-gauge vitrectomy and bimanual delamination of proliferative membrane with chandelier light. RESULTS: The technique enabled us to remove the tractional membrane easier and complete the surgery faster. CONCLUSION: A self-retaining chandelier light with modern light sources allowed an adequate illumination for performing a bimanual, small-gauge vitrectomy.
