Charles L. Schepens Lecture: Acute Zonal Occult Outer Retinopathy

    By Lawrence A. Yannuzzi, MD
    Annual Meeting 2013
    Retina/Vitreous

Dr. Lawrence Yannuzzi describes his recent work distinguishing acute zonal occult outer retinopathy (AZOOR) from other idiopathic chorioretinal abnormalities. Using currently available multimodal imaging, Dr. Yannuzzi and colleagues have described a distinct clinical entity that best represents AZOOR—its presenting symptomatology, associated visual dysfunction, progressive natural course, clinical manifestations, and its related multimodal imaging.

Dr. Yannuzzi is a professor of clinical ophthalmology at Columbia University Medical School, director of The LuEsther T. Mertz Retinal Research Center of the Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital, and founder and president of The Macula Foundation, Inc., The LuEsther T. Mertz Retinal Research Center, and the Vitreous Retina Macula Consultants of New York.
