Chronic Anti-VEGF Therapy: Are There Systemic Safety Concerns?
By Pravin U. Dugel, MD
Annual Meeting 2013
Retina/Vitreous
Several large studies have shown that anti-VEGF injections have systemic effects, but the actual impact of these effects on patients has generated much controversy. In this presentation from Retina Subspecialty Day, Dr. Pravin Dugel asks the fundamental question: "How do we make safety decisions without statistically definitive data?" Ultimately, there will never be a definitive trial on this topic, Dr. Dugel says, so it's important to look at the totality of the safety trends and apply them to individual patients.
