This video demonstrates a modification of an anterior approach to lensectomy in children, which involves grasping the lens by its capsule and then removing it with an automated vitrector. Clutching the lens in this fashion helps center the lens, thereby facilitating a complete lensectomy in cases of congenital cataract. This technique requires no conjunctival incision and causes minimal surgical trauma.
