Cataract/Anterior Segment
A young woman with congenital aniridia and cataract underwent capsule bag placement of a posterior chamber IOL (PCIOL) and separate iris prosthesis. Due to an anterior capsular tear that extended fully posteriorly for 180 degrees, the PCIOL and artificial iris were removed at the same sitting and refixated to the sclera with the Hoffman pocket technique using Gortex and polypropylene sutures.
