CSI Heidelberg: Focus on Multifocal and EDOF Technology

In recent years, tremendous advances have been made in multifocal and enhanced-depth-of-focus (EDOF) IOL technology. Refractive and diffractive principles, trifocal and bifocal lenses, and asymmetric segmental refractive IOLs and EDOF IOLs with various optical designs have been developed. In this video, made at the David J. Apple International Laboratory for Ocular Pathology, a special experimental setup was used to visualize the optical pathway of these presbyopia-correcting IOLs. The differences among these lenses and their working principles are explained.
