Deep blue dot degeneration is a newly described corneal entity characterized by the presence of histologically proven amyloid between Descemet membrane and stroma. This video from Saudi Arabia illustrates how this material predisposes detachment of Descemet membrane during or following phacoemulsification or deep lamellar keratoplasty (DALK).
