In this presentation, Dr. Andrew Chen describes why he would recommend surgery for the glaucoma patient with moderate glaucoma with nonadherence to topical medications and with failed selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT). He summarizes that the bimatoprost implant may provide several months of IOP control, though at increased risk of endothelial cell loss. Filtering surgeries can reliably reduce the IOP for this patient. One could also consider a trabecular bypass stent with cataract extraction.
