With the phenomenal success of propranolol in treating infantile hemangioma, Dr. Gregg Lueder discusses whether intralesional steroids still have a place in managing these tumors. In his 2013 Oculofacial Plastic Surgery Subspecialty Day presentation, he notes that while studies have shown that 98% of patients had some response to propranolol, 2% did not. Though limited, the place for steroids and surgery remains.
