This short training DVD has been put together to demonstrate how to undertake an intravitreal injection effectively and safely. Although the number of drugs that can now be injected into the vitreous cavity has grown, this presentation will focus only on the injection of anti-VEGF drugs. Discussions involve systemic risks to the patient, the risks to the eye involved in intravitreal injection, and advice on when to delay the injection. The intravitreal injection technique is described in detail including preprocedure preparations, the undertaking of the injection, emergency procedures that may be required postoperatively, and management of possible complications.
