In this video presentation from the 2013 Retina Subspecialty Day, Dr. Karina Berg reports one-year results from LUCAS: LUcentis Compared to Avastin Study: An Inject-and-Extend Protocol. This is the first randomized, multicenter trial comparing bevacizumab and ranibizumab following an inject-and-extend treatment protocol for AMD. The trial enrolled 432 patients with active choroidal neovascular membrane and edema involving the fovea. One-year results show that the two drugs appear to have equivalent effects on visual acuity when administered according to the protocol.
