Management of Graft Rejection and Immune Diseases of the Cornea

By Reza Dana, MD, MSc, MPH

    Cornea/External Disease

Several immune-mediated conditions can affect the cornea, either as a result of local etiopathogenic mechanisms
(eg, transplant and non-Sjögren dry eye disease) or as result of systemic immune-mediated conditions
(eg, graft-versus-host disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and Sjögren syndrome). While the immunopathogenic
mechanisms that drive the disease processes vary, there are shared mechanisms that can mediate tissue injury.
In this presentation, Dr. Reza Dana focuses on the most prevalent and severe disorders, including cornea transplantation rejection, dry eye disease, and immune-mediated corneal melts.
