    Multifocal/Toric IOL Combination

    AAO 2016
    Cataract/Anterior Segment, Comprehensive Ophthalmology

In this presentation from AAO 2016, Francesco Carones, MD, discusses the latest technique affecting cataract surgery, saying that patients want results to be better than before the cataract developed. Diffractive trifocal IOLs are being preferred and have been improved. Dr. Carones believes that different multifocal IOLs play differently; residual astigmatism needs to be 0.50 diopter or lower for best performance and the highest patient satisfaction. The multifocal/toric IOL combination is an excellent solution for bringing eyes closer to plano and it is the state of the art for premium cataract and refractive lens surgery. The presentation is followed by an interactive panel discussion regarding refractive lens surgery.

This presentation was co-sponsored by the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS).
