    Annual Meeting 2013

Dr. Bita Esmaeli provides an overview of recent developments in orbital oncology, focusing on new treatments directed against the hedgehog pathway for locally advanced periocular basal cell carcinoma and basal cell nevus syndrome. In this 2013 Oculofacial Plastic Surgery Subspecialty Day presentation, she also reviews therapy targeted against epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) for advanced cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma of the orbit and ocular adnexa. She concludes that targeted, nonsurgical treatment for locally advanced or metastatic basal and squamous cell carcinomas is no longer a dream, but a reality.
