Identifying progressors and choosing the appropriate treatment for keratoconus (KC) is a challenge for clinicians worldwide. A smartphone-based application on the management of KC will be a helpful clinical tool, as it is universally available and inexpensive and requires minimal technical skills for operation and use. Hence, we have built an artificial intelligence (AI)-based smartphone application, based on our five-point nomogram (previously published) for the management of KC. We used machine learning to teach the AI algorithm to select management options like crosslinking and keratoplasty. The KC app will help general ophthalmologists in choosing the most suitable treatment option for their patients.
