Glaucoma
As clinicians come to rely on data from imaging devices to help differentiate normal from glaucoma, the recognition of measurement artifacts is critical for intelligent interpretation of the data. In this presentation, Dr. Sanjay Asrani describes various artifact types and how they can affect measurements. He cautions against making therapeutic decisions based on thickness measurements without first assessing scans for artifacts. Although manually correcting segmentation errors is time consuming, doing so in specific areas of interest may promote more accurate RNFL or retinal thickness measurements and better clinical care.
