Pithing the Eye
By Robert H. Osher, MD
Annual Meeting 2013
Cataract/Anterior Segment
In this segment of the Spotlight on Cataract Complications, Dr. Bob Osher reviews the end of a routine case in which a projectile cannula accidentally penetrates the iris and bare sclera, causing a temporary bleed. Dr. Osher reminds surgeons to instruct their technicians on the safe use of all syringes, and to be vigilant about minimizing risk when placing any instrument in the eye, whether or not a Luer-Lok system is used.
The video symposium features 18 cataract experts who present their most challenging and unique surgical complications and the lessons they learned.
