    Glaucoma Subspecialty Day 2017
    05:13
    Diagnostic & Imaging, Glaucoma

Dr. Kouros Nouri-Mahdavi reviews the benefits and limitations of various perimetric tests and strategies, spot sizes, and guided progression analysis software. His presentation covers the definition of advanced glaucoma, the issues with standard achromatic perimetry size III, which type of perimetry to use, what tests to perform, and issues with available tools. In his experience, trend analysis on MD is helpful at all levels of glaucoma damage, whereas trend analysis on visual field index is recommended only in early to moderate glaucoma because it becomes very variable at around −20 dB. He also encourages physicians to rely on their experience with size III SAP VFs, and to confirm evidence of VF progression because any possible progression needs to be confirmed before major therapeutic decisions are taken. Subjective worsening of vision in later stages of the disease should be taken into consideration because this finding can sometimes be the only harbinger of disease progression.
