The dropped nucleus is a serious complication of contemporary cataract surgery. This video reviews a cadaver eye study designed to understand why the nucleus drops. Factors evaluated include gravity, high infusion pressure, turbulence, pressure gradient, excessive manipulation, machine parameters, and the role of the vitreous.
