What is the submission deadline for Grand Round cases?
The submission deadline is June 28 at 11:59 p.m. PT.
Is there a maximum length for the case report?
Yes, 1,000 characters. The character limit is set to allow a submission of approximately 100 words, spaces are not counted.
The online submitter application will automatically count any hidden formatting in the abstract when text is copy/pasted into the abstract body field. To avoid exceeding the character limits, paste only simple text.
Is there a maximum length for titles?
Yes, 120 characters, including spaces.
Do I need to be a member of the Academy to submit a case?
No, this is not a requirement for this session, however, an Academy site user account is needed to submit. To qualify for this session, you should be a resident at the time of AAO 2023. Consider joining the Academy to receive all member benefits.
Who should be listed as the Presenter – my attending?
The person who will be presenting should be listed first. You can include other authors on the case submission (for the purpose of the review) but only the presenter will be listed in the program.
What do I need to do regarding Financial Interest Disclosure?
Each submitting author is required to submit his/her financial interest disclosure information at the initial login to the abstract system.
All AAO 2023 contributors are required to disclose financial relationship information annually. The Academy will apply your responses to all educational activities in which you are currently participating and any that are added within the 2023 calendar year.
If my case is accepted, how do I follow the disclosure policy at AAO 2023?
Presenters are required to display financial relationships on the first slide and to verbally disclose any financial interest relevant to the presentation.
Even though disclosure has been made, presentations should not promote the use of any commercial product.
Can I submit a case that has been reported or presented at another meeting?
No, submission should be a case that has not been reported or presented at another national meeting. You can resubmit cases that were not selected in the past provided you are still active in a resident program.
How is the session organized?
Five to six accepted cases are presented by the resident authors followed immediately by author interaction with a panel of experts.
How do I withdraw my abstract?
To withdraw an abstract, select the submission title to open the abstract and select Withdraw Abstract. By selecting withdraw, your abstract will not be forwarded for review. You may withdraw your abstract at any time until the deadline.
Once an abstract is withdrawn, it cannot be reinstated. You must complete a new abstract to have it considered.
