Virtual Meeting Frequently Asked Questions

Go to https://www.aao.org/annual-meeting/virtual-meeting and click the "Access Now" button. On the next screen click the "Continue with SSO" button to enter the virtual meeting platform. Use your Academy website credentials to log in.

AAO 2023 sessions will be broadcast in Pacific Daylight Time until Sunday, Nov. 5 when it changes to Pacific Standard Time.

The session times listed in the platform will reflect your current time zone. You can update/change the time zone under your Profile page.

You will be able to access the AAO 2023 Virtual Meeting platform until 11:59 PM PST on Friday, March 1, 2024.

No. Educational sessions are only available in the Virtual Meeting platform, which closes at 11:59 PM PST on March 1, 2024.

Yes. If you would like to add a Subspecialty Day or the AAO 2023 virtual meeting, click on the Registration banner on the left-hand side on each page in the platform. Or go to https://secure.aao.org/aao/Experient-SSO. Registration will be available through Jan. 31, 2024.

Easily navigate around the site by clicking on the icons in the top navigation bar. A list of live sessions can be found by clicking the Happening Now icon in the side navigation bar. Click on the Academy logo in the top navigation bar to quickly return to the homepage.

Yes. The event can be viewed on a mobile device and will be formatted for mobile viewing.

Click Sessions on the top navigation bar. Use the filters or search bar to find specific sessions.

Yes. On the general Sessions page, add sessions to your personal calendar or create your schedule/bookmark within the platform.

Yes. On an individual session page, to the right of the video pane, you will see a chat box. Use chat during live sessions to post comments or questions.

No. Registrants enter sessions in “watch-only” mode and are muted with their cameras off. Registrants are encouraged to communicate with peers and the speakers live during the session through the text-only chat box. Your name will appear when you type a comment in the chat.

Sessions will be available to view "on demand" immediately after they conclude. Most sessions will remain available in the platform through March 1, 2024 (based on speaker permissions). Note: Within 24 hours of being uploaded, the 5-minute intro video will be removed from the recording.

Subspecialty Day will be live streamed in morning and afternoon segments. This will streamline viewing for attendees who watch it live. Within 24 hours of the session ending, Subspecialty Day will be broken out by individual section for on demand viewing.

These sessions have been specifically prepared for the AAO 2023 virtual meeting. Over 20 hours of content was prerecorded and placed on the platform for immediate viewing on demand.

No. Sessions have unlimited access.

No. Sessions are not translated.

In Person, On Demand sessions are not live streamed from the meeting. They will be available on the platform 24 hours after the in-person presentation has concluded.

The On Demand videos can be located by searching for the session title or by the date Thurs, Nov. 2.

Beginning, Fri. Nov. 3 go to www.aao.org/annual-meeting-cme. Note, if you are in the virtual meeting platform, you must open the link in a new tab for the links to function. Once you’ve completed the evaluation and entered the hours you’re claiming, click “Submit” ONCE. It may take a few seconds to process the CME claim.

Yes, the deadline is March 29, 2024. For AAO 2023, you can claim CME credit multiple times, up to the 50-credit maximum, through Mar. 29, 2024. You can claim some in 2023 and some in 2024, or all in the same year. For 2023 Subspecialty Day, you can claim CME credit multiple times, up to the 12-credit maximum per day, through Mar. 29, 2024. You can claim some in 2023 and some in 2024, or all in the same year. You do not need to track which sessions you attend, just the total number of hours you spend in sessions for each claim.

Click the Speakers icon in the top navigation bar to view a list of all Virtual Meeting speakers. Click on the magnifying glass to search for specific speakers. Click on their name or picture to view their relevant disclosures. Disclosures can also be viewed by clicking on the speaker's name on the individual session page. The disclosure list contains individual’s relevant disclosures with ineligible companies. All relevant financial relationships have been mitigated.

Yes. When you claim CME you will be asked to evaluate the meeting for which you are registered. On the AAO 2023 individual session pages there is a star rating to evaluate most sessions under the video pane. Individual Subspecialty Day sessions are not evaluated separately. Subspecialty Day evaluations are collected when you claim CME. An overall evaluation of the virtual meeting experience can be found by clicking on the evaluation link below the top navigation bar on the homepage.

Yes. Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 31, you will be able to access the 2023 posters and videos by clicking the Announcements icon in the side navigation bar. 

Posters can also be accessed from the Happening Now tab on the side navigation bar.
