The history establishes a probable diagnosis and guides the initial workup and therapy. It should include the following:
Pain may be a symptom of inflammatory or infectious lesions, orbital hemorrhage, malignant lacrimal gland tumors, invasion from adjacent nasopharyngeal carcinoma, or metastatic lesions.
