  • J. Morgan Micheletti, MD, FACS, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract surgery, refractive surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, and complex anterior segment surgery at Berkeley Eye Center in Houston, Texas. He has been recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor and was recently named to the top 40 under 40 list of ophthalmologists in the United States.

    He attended The University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology with High Honors and Special Honors in Biology. He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where he served as the president of the BCM Ophthalmology Interest Group. He then completed his residency training in ophthalmology at the Emory Eye Center.

    He is an innovator who has created multiple surgical instruments with numerous pending patents. He has developed novel approaches to surgical challenges such as the “punch and rescue” technique for dislocated IOLs and the modified twist and out technique for IOL exchange.

    He is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a fellow of the American Academy of ophthalmology (AAO), and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He serves on the AAO ONE Network Cataract Committee and the Young Eye Surgeons committee for the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He is also a member of the Health Policy Committee for the Society for Excellence in Eyecare. He is an active member of the American-European Congress of Ophthalmic Surgery (AECOS), the Texas Ophthalmological Association, and the Houston Ophthalmological Society.
