Dr. Munir is an associate professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore where he staffs the Cornea, External Disease and Refractive Surgery Service. He is also chief of ophthalmology at the Baltimore VA Medical Center.
He was previously assistant professor at Boston University Eye Associates, where he was director of the Cornea, External Disease and Refractive Surgery Service, fellowship director of Cornea and External Disease, associate program director of the ophthalmology residency program at Boston Medical Center, and ophthalmology liaison for Boston Medical Center Operating Room Services. While there, he received the Outstanding Clinical Instructor Award at Boston University School of Medicine in 2014, Outstanding Surgical Instructor Award in 2010 and 2013, and Behrooz Koleini, MD, Resident Educator Award in 2012.
He earned his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed an internal medicine internship at the University of Maryland; and an ophthalmology residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he served as chief resident; and a cornea fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.
He has served as a reviewer for ophthalmology journals and is the author of numerous journal articles, book chapters and abstracts.
