In this surgical video, Drs. Nitish Mehta and Christina Weng demonstrate rescue of a subluxed 3-piece IOL using a 3-port modified Yamane technique. Trocars are placed in a beveled fashion 180-degrees apart, 2.5 mm posterior to the limbus, to create the scleral tunnels. Mobilization of the infusion cannula to the free superotemporal cannula allows haptic to be explanted without the need for additional sclerotomies or cannulae. This technique can also be utilized in conjunction with IOL explantation and implantation of a new 3-piece IOL if the subluxed IOL is not amenable to scleral fixation.
