Dr. Keith Walter presents his procedure for corneal tattooing by using the femtosecond laser to create a small pocket in the cornea. The technique, which can serve as an alternative to iris prothesis or iris suturing, involves the following steps:

    1. Ablate circumferential lamellar channel
    2. Widen incision and proximal channel
    3. Open distal pocket
    4. Select pigments to match iris color
    5. Impregnate pocket with pigment
    6. Wash excess pigment and inspect tattoo

Dr. Walters demonstrates the technique on a patient who presented with diplopia and glare from 2 laser iridotomies after an implantable collamer lens (ICL) procedure.
