Drs. Stem and Williams rescue a subluxated CZ70BD IOL (Alcon) in a patient with prior history of trauma. The physicians demonstrate use of cowhitch knots to secure the IOL, which was partially dislocated several years after initial implantation due to failure of a Prolene fixation suture. The IOL is repositioned by sequentially "cow-hitching" each haptic to the eye wall with Gore-Tex sutures.

The technique is a modification of a technique first described by Dr. Jonathan Prenner.

Relevant financial disclosures: Dr. George Williams is a consultant for Alcon.
