Hybrid Irrigation and Aspiration Technique

This video demonstrates a new method to remove cortex during irrigation and aspiration. This technique combines the advantages of coaxial irrigation with a bimanual aspiration cannula. Dr. Sapkal uses the phaco probe as an irrigation instrument and a 23-gauge cannula, inserted through the side port, to aspirate. This enables better irrigation that overcomes any wound leak, and a stable anterior chamber. No changes in operative parameters are required as the aspiration port size is 0.3 mm.
