Cataract/Anterior Segment
In this video, Dr. Robert Osher shows his innovative technique for cosmetic repair of leukocoria, inspired by the presentation of a unique case: a woman with a cataract in a hypotonous, blind eye following chronic retinal detachment. A custom-made solid black IOL is inserted into the posterior chamber, in front of the loose cataract, but sutured into the ciliary sulcus for stability. The IOL is anchored to the sclera, and the incision is closed with a releasable conjunctival suture. The patient had excellent cosmetic results at 1 day postop.
