    In this surgical video, Dr. Jagat Ram and colleagues describe the management of cataracts associated with persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous (PHPV). Before the IOL can safely be implanted, they recommend beginning with a continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis followed by a posterior capsulotomy and limited anterior vitrectomy. Dr. Ram demonstrates how to perform this procedure on pediatric patients with limited anterior persistent fetal vasculature, a diffuse white cataract or a densely vascularized membrane and thin stalk.
