Management of Severe Ocular Trauma

In this video, Steven D. Vold, MD, operates on a patient with uncontrolled angle-recession glaucoma, hyphema, iridodialysis, dislocated cataract, and a vitreous hemorrhage due to severe ocular trauma from a tree branch. Cataract surgery was performed first, followed by vitrectomy for removal of the vitreous hemorrhage and hyphema, followed by insertion of a 3-piece anterior chamber IOL, and finally trabeculectomy with mitomycin C.
