The Yamane technique for scleral-fixation of 3-piece IOLs have been well-described in recent literature, but requires the surgical complexity of feeding haptics through hollow-bore needles and the need for thin-walled TSK needles. Drs. Alia Durrani and Shriji Patel demonstrate a modified version of the technique by using readily available 27-gauge needles for the creation of a scleral tunnel, and 27-gauge MaxGrip forceps to externalize haptics through the accompanied scleral tunnel.
