Dr. Tadahiko Kozawa describes a new propeller tip for phacoemulsification that could reduce tissue damage during cataract surgery. The tip is designed to harness the power of torsional oscillation, with a length of 30 mm and a vertical plate embedded 1 mm from the tip. Cavitation occurs in a targeted manner within this plate, minimizing unwanted disruptions to the ocular tissue.
