Graham Barrett, MD, discusses the approach to monovision that he believes has the greatest likelihood of success: using an extended depth of focus (EDOF) lens to create “modest” monovision. The EDOF lens is well-suited to modest monovision and can be used for distance vision in both eyes. He limits anisometropia to about -1.25 D, which reduces the likelihood of decreased binocular contrast sensitivity, asthenopia, and loss of stereoacuity.
