A Quick Guide to Anterior Chamber IOL Insertion

    03:10
    Cataract/Anterior Segment

In this surgical video, Drs. Riley Sanders and Ahmed Sallam demonstrate the technique and the important key points for proper placement of an anterior chamber IOL. This type of IOL consists of a lens and 2 haptics. To place the IOL, insert the the first leg into the wound and use the trailing leg to guide the lens optic into the anterior chamber. The trailing haptic is then pushed forward and tucked under the lip of the wound. A Sheets glide can also be used to place the IOL. The wound is closed with nonabsorbable sutures.
