Dr. Chirag Shah manages a patient who underwent prior surgery for proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) and retinal detachment, and developed a second detachment under silicone oil. After removing the oil, Dr. Shah uses intraocular diathermy to demarcate a retinectomy site just posterior to the existing scleral buckle. A relaxing retinectomy is then created and connected to the previous retinectomy. Membranes are managed and peeled with the aid of ILM forceps. After all traction is released, Dr. Shah applies endolaser along the edge of the relaxing retinectomy and finally refills the eye with silicone oil.
