This surgical video demonstrates the removal of subretinal bands in a case of proliferative vitreoretinopathy. An 80-year-old male developed a chronic total rhegmatogenous retinal detachment in the setting of bilateral anterior uveitis. His condition was complicated by grade C proliferative vitreoretinopathy with a circumferential, napkin-ring-like, subretinal band involving the posterior pole. Surgery involved a 4050 scleral buckle, 25 gauge pars plana vitrectomy, chandelier illumination, diluted triescence, perfluorocarbon liquid, bimanual en bloc extraction of the subretinal band using forceps, fluid-air exchange, endolaser and silicone oil tamponade.
